Kansas City Getting a Google Upgrade

The Google Fiber project will provide the metro area with blazing fast Internet access.

Looking for a place for your next high-tech start-up? You might want to consider Kansas City.

Both Kansas City, Missouri and its Kansas twin are about to get an infrastructure upgrade courtesy of Google, reports CNET News.

Residents of the two lucky cities will get their data at speeds 100 times faster than most Americans with Google’s fiber-optic technology—1-gigabit-per-second Internet access.

The two cities were selected as part of the Google Fiber Project. Google announced Monday that it is done with measurements and surveying, and will soon begin laying the cables to create a network backbone. The next phase will connect the network with homes and businesses. –Abby Tracy
